Terms of Service — Declassified
Last updated: September 22, 2026
These Terms govern your use of Declassified, operated by [Legal Business Name], a business based in Kenya.
1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Declassified, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Nature of the Service
Declassified provides curated historical and journalistic content concerning declassified government records, intelligence history, historical operations, and matters of public record. Content may include articles, video, audio, timelines, archival documents, and related materials.
Declassified is independent and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any government or intelligence agency unless expressly stated.
3. Historical and Editorial Content
Our material may rely on government archives, FOIA releases, declassified records, congressional records, court records, academic research, and investigative reporting. Historical records may contain conflicting accounts, incomplete information, redactions, errors, or disputed interpretations.
4. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority applicable to you, to create an account or purchase a subscription.
5. Accounts
You must provide accurate account information and safeguard your credentials. You are responsible for activity conducted through your account except where caused by circumstances outside your reasonable control.
6. Subscriptions and Billing
Premium access is offered on a monthly plan at $6.99 USD per month, an annual plan at $69.99 USD per year, or a one-time lifetime plan at $129 USD, unless another price is displayed at purchase. By subscribing to the monthly or annual plan, you authorize recurring charges through the payment method made available by PayPal.
Payment processing is handled by PayPal. Currency conversion or foreign transaction fees charged by your bank or payment provider are your responsibility. We will provide notice of material price changes where required by law.
7. Cancellation and Refunds
Subscriptions may be cancelled through the account controls we provide. Cancellation stops future renewal charges. Unless required by law or stated in our policy, cancellation does not automatically refund a period already paid.
See our Cancellation & Refund Policy.
8. Donations
Donations are voluntary and separate from subscriptions. A donation does not provide premium access, equity, or ownership in Declassified. Donations are non-refundable except where required by law or expressly stated otherwise.
9. Content License and Restrictions
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and view Declassified content for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not reproduce, redistribute, publicly perform, scrape, or resell our original content without permission, subject to rights that cannot lawfully be restricted.
10. Intellectual Property
Our original writing, commentary, video, audio, design, branding, and software belong to us or our licensors. Third-party and government materials remain subject to their respective legal status. We do not claim ownership of underlying government records merely because we reference or reproduce them.
11. User Conduct
You may not use the Service unlawfully, circumvent access controls, materially scrape or reproduce the Service, upload malicious code, interfere with security, or use another person's account without authorization.
12. International Use
The Service may be accessible internationally. We do not represent that every feature or item of content is appropriate or legally available in every jurisdiction. Mandatory consumer protections remain unaffected.
13. Disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We make reasonable efforts to maintain editorial accuracy but cannot guarantee that every historical statement, interpretation, source, or item is complete or error-free.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the Service. Nothing excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
15. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify us for claims and reasonable expenses arising directly from your material violation of these Terms or unlawful misuse of the Service.
16. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by Kenyan law, subject to mandatory consumer rights applicable in your jurisdiction. We encourage users to contact us first so we can attempt to resolve disputes informally.
17. Termination
We may suspend or terminate an account for material violations, unlawful activity, fraud, abuse, security risks, or payment-related issues, subject to applicable law.
18. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified through the Service, email, or another reasonable method where required.
